How to Get to Bandung with Whoosh from Jakarta
The KCIC (Kereta Cepat Indonesia China), as known as “Whoosh,” is a transportation infrastructure project that aims to speed up travel between Jakarta and Bandung. Inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on October 2, 2023, Whoosh has a speed of up to 350 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest mode of public transportation in Southeast Asia.
Whoosh ticket prices start from IDR 200,000 to IDR 600,000 depending on the class you choose and whether you go on weekday or weekend. There are three classes that is, Premium Economy Class, Business Class, and First Class.
If this is your first time to use Whoosh, it is important to know how to take Whoosh from Jakarta to Bandung so that your trip is comfortable.
To take the Whoosh high-speed train from Jakarta to Bandung, you can start the journey at Halim Station nearby Halim Airport in Jakarta and get off at Padalarang Station or Tegalluar Station.
Unfortunately, Whoosh has not reached Bandung central. So, if you get off at Padalarang Station, you can continue the journey to Bandung city by taking Feeder train, which takes 20 minutes to Bandung Station. It leaves every hour from 07.22 a.m until 21.12 p.m.
If you choose to get off at Tegalluar Station, you can take the DAMRI Bus for 1 hour to Bandung with affordable rate. The first thing you do is buy tickets either online or offline.
Whoosh Ticket Purchase:
- Offline purchases can be made at the counter with cash and cashless payment methods (Debit Card, Credit Card, and QRIS). Passengers can also make purchases at the Ticket Vending Machine with a payment method using QRIS. If you feel confused, you can ask for help from the officer on guard.
- Online purchases can be made through the Whoosh Application or can also be on the ticket.kcic.co.id website with payment methods using bank transfer/VA, QRIS, credit card, and retail outlets. For Whoosh ticket purchases at other partners (Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, BRImo, BNI Mobile Banking), it will follow the terms and conditions of each of these partners.
For those of you who want to buy online tickets, you must register first if you don’t have an account. Here are the steps:
- Visit the official website of ticket.kcic.co.id or Whoosh app to register
- Fill in the existing personal data information
- Select the type of document to be selected (Identity No. (ID Card)/Passport).
- Then enter the user’s email and WhatsApp number, then click the red button “Generate” to obtain a verification code sent to your email and WhatsApp that has been registered.
- Fill in the email and WhatsApp verification code, then click the Terms of Service and Privacy Agreement then click submit
- Slide the validation image/puzzle that appears
- After that, there will be a pop-up notification that you have successfully registered
After successfully registering, you can immediately log in to purchase tickets. Here are the steps:
- Visit the ticket.kcic.co.id website or the Whoosh app and log in to the account you already have
- Select the departure station, destination station and departure date
- After that, select the departure time and ticket price according to the class you want, then click “Reservation”
- Select a seat and enter the passenger’s personal data, then press “Confirm”
- Double-check your personal data information and other details. If it is correct, then you can proceed to choosing a payment method
- Click “Pay” and then select the payment method
- Make the payment according to the method that has been chosen
If the payment is successful, the e-ticket will be sent to your email or will be saved on the ticket menu/ticket order. You don’t have to redeem the physical ticket, just queue up to the gate in by pointing the Ticket QR Code at the scanner at the gate.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the station 30 minutes before the scheduled departure to avoid missing the train. If you arrive late, the ticket that has been purchased is not refundable and cannot be used for the next train trip.
