Gili Labak is a small island that can be reached from the most eastern part of Madura island. The white sandy beach, blue sea and quiet whisper of the waves has attracted travelers to spend some good time here. Gili Labak is quite hidden and doesn’t even show on maps. With only a football field wide, this isle has kept its beauty for years.
Gili Labak used to be a resting place for fishermen only. There are 35 households here with minimum supporting facility. Limited water supply and electricity makes this isle stay humble and away from civilization. The whole island is surrounded by the stretch of white sandy beach with 50 m wide shoreline. You can walk around the island in just 1 hour and get a view of the vast ocean.
Snorkeling is an option for your activity here. But you must know the perfect spot of corals. Though there are many spots for snorkeling, only some of them are really alive with diverse sea-creatures. Sunset is also a must-do, when the whole horizon goes red and the sun slowly setting down, with no sound of vehicle or any machine, you will find serenity. Gili Labak isle is a place for you to find some peace and humbleness.
The best time to visit is around April to November at which time, the sea conditions are calm, so you wont be constrained by high waves on your journey.
This island can be reached by boat, about 2 hours from Kalianget port. The boats only able to leave in the morning and return late afternoon before sky getting dark. Fairly high waves make the boat sways on your journey to this island, so bring your own medicine for seasick. Your way back will be much easier as we go on the same direction with the waves.
To go around this island is easy. You can walk along the coastline for 1 hour, or cut through the villages to go to the other direction. The village has dirt road only with coconut trees in the heart of the island.
There are a few stalls there, selling fresh coconut and food on this island. Your option are instant noodles, rice with eggs or grilled fishes when available. If you want something else, you can pack it before sailing here.
Positive attitude all the time
Do not forget yout sun cream. Gili Labak has only few beachside huts. Thus, the only shelter on the beach is under shady tree.

Bring your personal medicine and extra food
To stayover in Gili Labak, the option is to rent the villagers house or camp in a tent. However the villager houses are humble, and mostly we stay on the floor with cover on. But its a good option to have your own toilet.
To come to Gili Labak in a day only is considered tiresome because of the long journey. Spend a night to enjoy this island.
